Main Challenge
Struggling students show up on the support pages long before they show up on the record, and the support team usually finds out when the withdrawal form arrives.

The challenge

The campus used to tell you when a student was struggling.

A tutor noticed, a flatmate mentioned it. Fewer students are on campus enough for that to happen.

In Jisc's 2024/25 survey of UK students, 36% had stayed away from campus because of travel costs and 39% had taken on paid work that might clash with their studies.

For these students, the support pages are where the struggle shows up first.

Finance directors in England told the Office for Students in 2026 that significant numbers of students are choosing to live at home, and that some providers are seeing attrition rise.

By the time a withdrawal form arrives, the decision has usually been made.

The moment

It's week seven.

Daniel is a first-year business student who lives at home an hour away and works three evenings a week. He comes in for timetabled sessions and leaves straight after.

In the same week he reads the page on assignment extensions twice, then the counselling page, then the page on interrupting your studies. He doesn't book anything.

On paper, Daniel is fine. His record shows a registered student with no flags but his student support team doesn't know his name.

What changes

From missed signals to timely support.

Today

X icon
A student who lives off campus and works alongside their studies shows no flags on their record until they withdraw.
X icon
Repeated visits to the extension, counselling and interruption pages go unseen by anyone who could help.
X icon
The team learns a student was struggling from the withdrawal form, often a term after help would have made a difference.

The team sees which students keep returning to support pages without getting what they came for, on the student's own Salesforce record.

A named adviser reaches out with a practical offer of help while there's still time, instead of an automated alert.

The pages a struggling student visits make support easier to find and hold back generic campus marketing.

How it works

Three simple steps.

1

Support sees who keeps coming back.

Once a student signs in to the portal or uses a support form, their visits to the support, well-being and study skills pages appear on their Salesforce record, next to anything your team already holds there. Staff can see who keeps returning to the same pages without booking anything.

2

A named person reaches out first.

Daniel gets a short message from his student adviser about flexible deadlines and when the adviser is free. He doesn't get an automated alert, and nothing tells him which pages he read.

3

Everything else steps back.

While he's in a difficult patch, generic campus marketing is held back on the pages he visits, and the support he was looking for is easier to find.

What it takes

Works with your existing websites and Salesforce environment.

Tick badge icon orange/purple
License
Installs into the Salesforce org you already run, so your staff keep working where they work today, with no new login. Your Salesforce administrator installs it, then sets it up to match how your institution works.

Salesforce configuration
Plan for your administrator's time during setup. The more your org has been customised, the more there is to map, and our implementation team works through it with them.

Consent and privacy
Consent applies to every visitor, in every country they're browsing from. Your privacy notice needs to cover it, and you should plan for a DPIA.

LoupeED works with what students do on your website and portal pages where it's installed. It doesn't read attendance, assessment or learning platform data, though if that data already reaches Salesforce, the two sit side by side. Your privacy notice needs to describe the activity. Well-being is the most sensitive data you hold, so agree with your data protection officer how signals will be used before anything goes live.

Check your own numbers

Understand the opportunity.

How many first-year students withdrew before the end of their first term last year?

How many of them had been in contact with student support beforehand?

What is one percentage point of first-year continuation worth to you in fee income?
The signal is rarely the problem. The problem is that it reaches the people who can help too late.

What a pilot would measure

One support team, one set of pages, 90 days. How many students who returned to support pages were contacted by a named person within a week, and first-term continuation in that group compared with the equivalent cohort last year.
A pilot tests your business case, not just our software. It runs for a defined period of time with a deliberately narrow scope. We review progress with you throughout, not only at the end. The outcome covers what didn't work as well as what did, so your finance team can set the result with confidence. When the pilot succeeds, you'll already know what comes next: which teams or journeys to add, and what each would involve.
